Mock Exams 2024 - 25

Mock Exams: What are we trying to achieve as an outcome?

We must be clear on the objective of taking a  Mock Exam. In the classrooms we learn the subject,

understand the concepts, learn the laws and rules of the subject. That just forms the theoretical portion of the game.

Unless these are put to practice in real time situations, the utility of learning itself is defeated.

FAQs about our Mock Exams

What is the need for a mock examination?
Through classroom learning, we have achieved the theoretical aspect of learning only. Now comes the stage where the knowledge and understanding are checked and evaluated. These could be by way of chapter tests, class tests, unit tests or periodic tests as each school names it. All these goes about testing the learning part and tries to fill in the learning gap. These could be formatted within the class as per the need keeping the outcome as completion of the learning and knowledge assimilation.
However, when it comes to evaluating what is learnt in an academic year by the student, under a uniform syllabus, in a common platform, the need of a common evaluation method arises. This also leads to the need of public examination, for a better harmonized evaluation. But the system has undergone many changes and eventually a student faces two public exams, invariably before he moves to the collegiate education. Apart from the conventional curriculum, many reputed institutions as well as national and state level educational boards have started conducting their own entrance examinations. Here again the attempt is to evaluate a student’s readiness to pursue higher education from a common platform.
In what way is a 'mock exam' helpful?
CORTISOL LEVELS.. YES THE STRESS FACTOR!!
The key difference between these two is thestress factor, which normally one is unlikely to have during the mock. However, repeated mock practice goes about helping inreducing these stress levels in the real time event, to a considerable extent. While every Mock test in the academic area tries to be as close as possible to all the aspects of the real examinations – format, marks distribution, difficulty levels, time allowed and syllabus coverage etc, nevertheless the stress factor is still missing as far as mock exams are concerned.
But thekey advantage of mock exam is the quality of feed back you get about yourself. This is just irreplaceable by any other mode of evaluation.
Our school already conducts mock exams. Why should we take up Enlighten Online's mock exam? How is it any different?

Very true, they too provide the same advantages offered by the mock exams. However, there is one key aspect which your institution cannot offer. It’s the element of “unknown”. Mock exams by your own institutions do help but they don’t bring in a third party or “outside” view of your performance. When the same mock exam is conducted by someone completely unknown to you, you are a lot closer to the real exam. As we have no specific performance agenda, we can conduct a mock exam and give a completely unbiased feedback, since we are not in the know about the student or his antecedents. Therefore, this experience takes your mock exam a lot closer to the real exam with an unbiased feed back to work on your strengths and circumvent your weaknesses. Acompletely third person view on your strengths and weaknesses is something that you can never expect from your own institutions or coaching classes. The aspect of student background will have an impact unless it is completely done in blind mode. Since this feedback is completely based on student’s single mock test and given without the influence of any other factor like student performance trend, background etc, it is more pointed and specific to work on.

Our Teaching Model

Hybrid Model of Pedagogy - Technologically Traditional

We have always believed that there is great difference between “tutoring”, “teaching” and “pedagogy”. Though by and large, they convey a similar meaning, they are not same. Hence we have always used the term pedagogy as it describes our initiative more closely and appropriately.

Oxford dictionary defines Pedagogy as - The method and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept while the Cambridge dictionary defines the same as – the study of the methods and activities of teaching. Both these definition define our objective very closely.

Let’s see what this hybrid model of pedagogy is all about. As we had already explained in our introductory write up, this model is a combination of personal as well as technology-driven teaching with the convenience of flexible study. This model makes us “technologically traditional”, as we love to call ourselves.

A combination of recorded lectures supported with periodic face to face class makes it effective, flexible and useful for the students. As we stated, we are driven by the student understanding of the subject and concept as our primary motive while business is incidental.

As we all realise that nothing can replace a face to face coaching, we will be continuing the personal classes as well in our endeavour, going forward. Our earnest attempt would be to minimize the gap between the two modes to achieve effectiveness of teaching.
